It’s official without being official. After years of being an open secret in the industry, Rockstar is finally pulling the trigger and starting to tease Red Dead Redemption 2 (or whatever it will be called) on Twitter, posting a simple red image yesterday, but today confirming that yes, it is indeed Red Dead, as a new image shows seven cowboy silhouettes make their way toward the foreground.

Take-Two's forecast 'better than feared', shares hit record

(Reuters) - Take-Two Interactive Software Inc, the maker of "Grand Theft Auto" videogames, forecast full-year revenue below Street estimates as it delayed the launch of a game, but at least two analysts said the outlook was not as bad as feared.

Take-Two's shares rose as much as 11 percent to a record high of $76.70 in early trading on Tuesday, reversing course from a 6 percent drop before the bell when the company issued its forecast and fourth-quarter results.

Take-Two said on Monday that its Rockstar Games studio would delay the launch of the highly anticipated Western action-adventure "Red Dead" videogame to spring 2018 from fall 2017, triggering a 10 percent drop in its shares in extended trading.

"...Red Dead Redemption 2 will be their first game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that they deliver the best experience possible," Chief Executive Strauss Zelnick said in a statement.

Pulling back after the ER, staying in this range 95-135.[IMG]

I wonder if these video game makers are in trouble? Microsoft may take over the industry, if their distribution network (streaming games) is a success; they have a lot of their own developers too.

Sure, Take Two has GTA but they do not control the distribution of games. I wonder if they will find themselves shut out?

These video game companies should be making their own gaming systems.

Microsoft working on a deal to acquire ATVI. Always said Microsoft was the best video game play.
EA, TTWO need to create their own gaming consoles.

edit: There is an alarming signal imo, of this Microsoft acquisition: They are acquiring ATVI for $69B cash, which is looking like $85 a share (I didn't really look at the fine print, I know ATVI has $10B debt too). But ATVI was trading $100 a share last year...if they take this deal then it's kinda looking like the best days are behind ATVI/EA/TTWO. Of course, if they can just create their own gaming systems...
