Congrats to @rStock the Stockaholics Daily Stock Pick Winner for (6/27)!

*Link to Stockaholics Daily Stock Picking Challenge Thread for (6/27)*

On to the next! The Stockaholics Daily Stock Picking Challenge for (6/28) starts at the opening bell on Friday, June 28th, 2019.

If you want to be eligible to participate in the daily challenge here is what you need to do (REQUIRED!):
    • 1.) Post 1 ticker (ex. AAPL = Apple)
    • 2.) Choose either Long or Short (Obviously LONG = if you think it will go up ... or SHORT = if you think it will go down)
    • 3.) Your pick MUST be at least $2 at the previous day's closing price at the bare minimum! If you pick something that is under $2 then your pick will not count, and you will not be entered into the daily stock picking challenge!
Challenge Rules (PLEASE READ THESE AND FOLLOW THEM!):
    • 1.) No OTC or IPOs.
    • 2.) No Futures, Forex, Indexes stuff like that... Equities ONLY that trade on the U.S. Stock Exchange!
    • 3.) If you don't post both the ticker AND the direction (LONG/SHORT) you won't be added to the list of contestants for the daily stock picking challenge!
    • 4.) You cannot duplicate someone's exact pick!
    • 5.) Picks absolutely MUST be posted in here before 4AM eastern time the day of the contest!
    • 6.) You are NOT allowed to pick any leveraged ETFs/ETNs (2x/3x). If you choose one, it will not count. If incorrect picks go un-noticed, you risk your position being forfeited!
    • 7.) RATIONALE - You may post up a rationale (either technical or fundamental) for your pick but it is not required. This is optional for everyone. Members who do post up a rationale for their pick will receive an additional 2 points in the members leaderboard.
    • 8.) Please DO NOT EDIT your original post with your pick! If you absolutely must choose another pick, please use a separate post and state that you are changing your original pick to something else!
    • 9.) You may choose to close out your pick at any time during the trading day. PLEASE POST YOUR OWN CLOSING PRICE! We will be using the intraday 1 minute closing price using the time stamp of your post on Stockaholics for when you closed out your pick. You will need to state the price & the time of when you closed out. I will be confirming that your closing price is correct by looking at the 1 min. intraday chart. If it is not correct, I will then post up your correct price and input that into the live spreadsheet.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask, and if anyone sees someone else messing up, please correct them. Also, please look at your positions after I post the spreadsheets. I try to catch mistakes, in and out of my control, but need your help in making sure the information is accurate.

Remember...the challenge starts at the opening bell on Friday, June 28th!

Stockaholics wins the daily poll tally on Thursday! Credit goes to the UP votes!

    Post your Vote!

    Notes/Guidelines:
    1) For purpose of the spreadsheet record flat is currently based on +/-0.15% or less. Of course, everyone can define flat any way they choose.
    2) Up, Flat, or Down must be clearly specified in a post in order to be listed in the spreadsheet, otherwise it'll be assumed that post was not intended to be a part of the official record.
    3) It's OK to post your vote if you missed the deadline after the poll has expired and if the market has not really moved that much or especially if your late vote is opposite or flat of the S&P futures ATM. It will be up to my discretion and obviously, the more active voters will be given more leeway.
    4) Starting and ending points based on official daily ending close of the market.
    5) The primary goal of this game is to track our performance. You can consider it a contest or as a personal critiquing tool to better ones performance

@Stoch - just a quick heads up here in case you weren't aware, but in the spreadsheet i'm showing that you made the same exact pick as yours truly...hope you're able to see this and are able to change before early AM tomorrow.

Hah, well honestly my picks have been pretty doggone awful this year to say the least lol but I couldn't help but notice that base that's formed on the daily chart of Mickie D's. Looks primed for another move soon.

Meanwhile, I have been meaning to ask this question in here, hoping someone might be able to help me out.....but with regards to the Google Forms and Google Sheets, is there any way possible to make it so that when/if we get these duplicate picks in the spreadsheet that somehow the Google Form wouldn't accept the user's submission? And it would ask the user to change their pick (ticker symbol and direction) before getting submitted.

I gotta believe there's a way to do this, but thus far I have found nothing in my limited searches. I'll keep looking though. I think it would be awesome to have something like that for the Google Forms.

Forms used to have a "no duplicates" option, but darned if I can find it with the current version of Forms.

    Hey guys,

I just wanted to quickly bring to everyone's attention in here regarding next week's holiday-shortened trading week, and what that will mean for these competitions.

As I had noted on the weekly market thread earlier today, I will be taking some time off from the market action next week to focus on some family time during the holiday.

I am not 100% sure what I am going to do with these competitions yet.

FWIW, I will still be in town...I am not going away on any trip like I normally do for the 4th.

But, as I said I won't be paying much attention to the markets at all.

I'd hate to cause any interruptions of the competitions honestly, since this year we have actually managed to pull off a full H1 without any interruption at all! I'm very impressed about that, since this is the first time that's ever happened for us since I've been running the contests. I think I have to thank the Google Forms for making my life so much easier running the contests this year lol. Shout out to @Three Eyes in a HUGE way here! Honestly, woulda never even known about the forms if it hadn't been for him pointing me in that direction late last year! THANK YOU @Three Eyes :D

Anyway...I think I can still run the contests next week, but maybe what will happen is that the daily thread updates might not be right after the market closes like I typically like to do. Might be a slight delay of a few hours getting to them.

Or, if I'm really not liking that idea since the idea here is for me to take a break from the markets, is to just sticky all of next week's daily contest threads, and we won't have a live spreadsheet on those days? I would then update them all when I'm back the following Monday. I think we did this one time in the past, and it seemed to work out okay.

Would you guys all be cool with that?

I'll see how it goes. But, I'm thinking more likely the latter, rather than the former would be my best bet since I would really like to avoid logging in here and checking the market at all next week if possible. :p

Anyway, just putting this out there for you guys.

I probably should have setup a new thread for all of this lol.

^^ Actually, now that I'm thinking of it, I believe what I did the last time I had to take a break (last year) was that I only ran the daily market voting polls, and did not run the daily stock pick at all. Hmm... how would you guys all feel if we were to do that again for next week? Thoughts?

Yes, take a well deserved break. Shut it down for a few weeks if needed. Thanks.

I'm fine with all options presented.
There's not many ERs next week so I wouldn't miss the daily stock pick much.
