I'm new to stock trading and still learning. My question is, in my paper trading account on thinkorswim platform, each time i try to get out of a position by placing a limit order, a couple of cents better than the NBBO, for some reason I don't get the fill, even if its 10 cents better than the best bid or ask. I see that my bid/ask is at the top of level 2 but still don't get the fill. This is something I don't understand, is it because i'm paper trading and the data is delayed or is this how it is in day trading? I really don't like to go for market orders cause they give really bad prices, especially if you are trying to do day trading.
What order type is normally use to get out of a position with good profits and how is it placed for day trading.
