When an analyst gives a price target for a stock what is the time frame for the stock to reach that price? As an example let's say an analyst gives a buy recommendation with a $400.00 price target on a stock that is currently trading at $275.00, when is that stock suppose to reach that $400.00 target? Given a long enough trajectory any company will eventually reach most targets given they stay solvent.

I suggest looking at fair value price instead of a "target" price.

They will not give you a time frame because then they will be wrong 99% of the time.

Instead they just give a target, then 10yrs from now they can say "See? I was right!"
