Mostly just a lurker on this thread. But I just wanted to quickly chime in here to say, that it’s been good to read from both sides of the aisle if you will on the covid vaccines from y’all’s (specially the old timers on this board — and you all know who you are. ;)). I don’t really have much else to add on the subject in this thread than what has already been discussed from all of you’s, other than to say thx for the good quality discussions.

More of that please, and less of the baseless one-liner posts like the one right above ^^ mine here. That imo adds absolutely nothing to the discussions here imo. Just a bunch of hot air and nothing more.. Thank you that is all.

Back to lurking mode I go.

Not like people who use the term "libtards" have anything of substance to say anyway.

I anticipate the most contagious yet not entirely deadly strain to outcompete all others and makes COVID-19 just like the yearly flu. It's not going away. It is so widespread, and it has an animal reservoir to keep it just lurking for the next outbreak if it is temporarily tamped down. We are just going to have to live with it and live our lives like normal once it becomes less deadly. Until then the vaccines will have to do.

So a person having an opinion is a "libtard".....well "IMO" that is the most uneducated statement I have ever heard in all my existence and I'm a dinosaur.
Yes it's a free site where people come to share and get free stock plays or a free education see "educational videos and material".

The big question is why are you here... "IMO" looking for free stock picks and obvious not and a free education. I'm going to finish here and I will leave you to fill in the blanks but then again never mind you are not on that level.

Troubling statistic here, these are hospital admissions for patients aged 0-17yrs. The Delta variant is getting more kids a lot sicker!

I vote to let the argument burn, as long as it is productive.

    I'm probably a libtard, by RTN8's definition. That's OK.

People in this thread who share my point of view haven't taught me a thing. On the other hand, a couple of the folks who don't share my point of view have shone light into a position I used to think was foolish. I appreciate having the detail on this position.

I'm most interested in learning how people think so I can dismantle the thought units and see if there is a way to profit from that knowledge. Right and wrong is of no relevance to me, from an investing perspective.

Of course, if the vaccine kills me that will be relevant on the personal side. I also dearly hope the virus doesn't impact any of my forum friends or the people they care about, regardless of their politics.

But seriously, I hope we are not so scared of an argument as to squelch a convo that we can learn from.

I believe healthy conversation is the only way to learn.

I have done probably as much research into this stuff as anyone whether it be listening to different Podcasts or my own independent research.

The argument isnt whether or not the vaccine works. At this stage in the game it is becoming increasingly clear that vaccines do help minimize the risks of COVID.

My problem is Mandating vaccines. I was just turned down for another job because I am not fully vaccinated yet. I dont understand how HIPAA just went right out the window overnight and now companies are allowed to not only ask your vaccination status, they are allowed to require your vaccination for employment and you must show medical documents as proof.

And again, it doesnt make sense for everyone to get vaccinated. There are some people who have natural immunity to SARS-Cov-2 which data shows is MORE effective against variants than the vaccine is.

Funny how the goal shifted from herd immunity to now EVERYONE must take this vaccine. Now they have the "Mu," variant.

Needless to say the FDA is a joke and needs dismantled and rebuilt.

I am not in favor of anyone making medical decisions for another person. Especially when it is the Gov't that is requiring you to put a foreign substance into your body in order to participate in life.

We are heading down a slippery slope. What's next? Where does it end?

I do not like the direction we are heading in as a country and society. I was born about 20 years too late. I wish I was a 60's baby.

Many people have taken Ivermectin after being diagnosed with COVID and have proven it to be an effective therapy to kill and overcome SARS-Cov-2.

The most recent being Joe Rogan who announced he was positive for COVID. He took Ivermectin as part of a cocktail treatment, much like that of Donald Trump, and announced he felt completely fine 2-3 days later.

I 100% believe the only reason Ivermectin has not been supported by more people is because there is no money to be made. And if they would have acknowledged Ivermectin as effective, they would not have received FDA EUA for the vaccines which requires there be no effective treatment available.

Even now when you hear mainstream media talk about Ivermectin, they immediately jump to the animal-grade version and talk about the risks of people using the wrong form, a much stronger/ concentrated dose of Ivermectin.

On separate news, 7 states have passed laws and now enable you to have a Digital Drivers License/ State ID which is stored on your phone or in you Apple Wallet for iPhone users. Scary shit. Just 1 step closer to the government knowing your location 24/7.

    The end is near.

In a room full of adults such as 99% of this place, absolutely! This pandemic will be a textbook case study for scientific research, messaging, and psychology for decades to come.

You'll never see me define anyone as a "libtard". There are intelligent people of all political persuasions who are capable of debate and not getting butthurt, and then there is everyone else. Based on what I see here, most people are in the former category.

But my curiosity forces me to ask about the origin of that statement by you

To be honest, I am most likely further to the left than a lot here, but it does not really matter. Like you said, nobody learns from being in an echo chamber. It allows one to either modify their beliefs or add evidence to reinforce their existing ones.

    Amen.

I read a few years back about how the permafrost melting is going to see the return of things that have been dormant for centuries. Strap on your helmets and seatbelts, it's gonna be a bumpy few years...

George Carlin (RIP) said it best: "The planet will survive, the planet will heal itself after it shakes us off like a bad case of fleas. Our purpose here on earth? MAKE MORE PLASTIC. Let's hurry up the process already!"

I believe what we are seeing is the toxic nature of ignorance. So much of what I am reading is opinion.

In the case of COVID, I filter media that has been digested by media and government to focus on information that is medical in origin. Someone who has studied medicine for many years is a whole lot smarter than the media, government, and myself. Someone with no expertise who shares ideas is offering opinion. I'm looking for information.

In the case of corporate management, I avoid companies run by MBAs. MBAs are notorious for over-ruling engineers and SMEs. I have zero interest in a car that is designed by an MBA and will avoid the product and company.

In the case of investing, we know that everyone who bought VOO over time without timing the market has gotten rich. Meanwhile, show me a short term trader who is retired and sustaining themselves for the long term. They don't exist, as best I can tell.

The world has a huge proportion of people who want to do it wrong. They go out of their way to avoid any approach which has been studied and determined to be the best.

If we would stop trying to save people from themselves, our society would improve based on merit.

Lastly, I'm comfortable with my choice to take the vaccine. If it turns out to be the wrong decision, I can live with that or I can die with that. The point is, I won't hate on anyone for making the right decision, nor will I hate on anyone for making the wrong one. The strong language and judgement is straight up asshole behaviour.

First dose 5 months ago. Second dose 3 months ago.

I mostly feel normal, although now I have a strange urge to support Joe Biden????

I've had two doses of Moderna. First one just left me with a sore arm, the second one KNOCKED ME ON THE GROUND. The next day I felt like I'd been run over by a truck, broke a fever, drenched with sweat off and on throughout the next 30 or so hours.

I do not EVER want to deal with the virus--holy crap, it was awful and that was just the vaccine.

This is worrying--you kind of expect older people to get hit and die from the virus, but hospitals are reporting younger people being admitted and dying. I saw a heartbreaking photo of a young child on a ventilator with a machine that was pumping his chest (so a person didn't have to do it.)

I got the first Pfizer. The only side affect I had was headaches that seem to last for about a week.

My wife got 2 Pfizer shots and after her second shes been having a lot of problems and is going to urgent care tomorrow to be seen.

Needless to say I have been holding off on getting a 2nd. I think getting them 2 weeks apart is way to close together. Majority of the reports ive seen on VAERS start with "after the 2nd shot"
