I noticed we have threads for all the other major sports here... So why not one for fishing??

    Problem solved!

Though, even as a hardcore fisherman, I've never considered fishing to be a "sport".... Sports have winners and losers... Fishing doesn't!...... Even the guy who finishes last place in a tournament still had the pleasure of enjoying a day on the water

As the saying goes: "A bad day of fishing beats a good day of work".... So I think it would be better classified as a hobby... But for me, it's an escape... An escape from everything unpleasant in life

Weather you're an ardent angler, weekend warrior, or have never wet a line but you'd like to try it one day..... Post fishing thoughts, tips, photos here

    I'll start

My PB (personal best) Largemouth Bass.... 6 1/2 lbs, caught last Spring on one of my homemade craw baits

I've made all my own bass lures for about 4 years now.. Catching fish is fun.. Catching fish on a bait you designed and made with your own hands, it's hard to beat that!

Haven't been fishing in years, hopefully in the next year all my projects will be complete and I can burn a few worms. Awesome lure looks better than the commercial made ones.

    Thanks... I got tons more!

The best thing about fishing is, you don't have to plan it... You can get home early one day, then just go.... A couple hours on the water is better than none

It's good for the soul, if I were a doctor, I'd write you a prescription

All fresh water for me... I've never fished the salt, it's on the bucket list

Black Bass (largemouth, smallmouth, spotted) are coveted game fish, fished for sport, and typically released

However, their cousin the Crappie (pictured) are considered by many to be the best table fare in fresh water... Hence their nickname, Panfish

So this is why i havnt been as active here lately... New project!... A 1969 15' tri hull with a 55 hp Evinrude outboard!..... Floor is gutted, transom is rotted, trailer is rusted, wiring in the motor is frayed and corroded... But all it costed me was a half tank of gas to go get it and 2 new trailer wheels to pull it back

Funny thing, for as long as i can remember, ive always said im gonna buy me a boat "next year"... I ended up settling for a little 12' jon boat that i fished happily for over 8 years now...... Also funny, being in the financial markets now and saving like a mad man over the past 2 years, i could close my account out right now and buy a damn nice used bass boat for cash, or put a fat down payment on a brand new shiny one... But ive resisted that temptation, and it wasn't hard really.... I guess this is what it looks like when patience pays off... Or... Well... It will be eventually

I can't believe I haven't run across this tread before. I fish the lower Colorado areas around Yuma for Bass as well. Mostly shore right now until I get a boat. Where are you guys hauling in those lunkers?

If it's big enough for the fish, it's big enough for you.

Nice, you can get in and out easily and get into the more remote and peaceful places. Some of the most experienced fisherman I've known use just what you're using. I used to use a 14' aluminum Lund with a Merc 9.9 but that was too much hassle. Now I use a canoe or waders in NW Wisconsin and a fishing kayak in Arkansas. Granted I don't fish the really big waters but I don't want to. Usually it's just me and one or two others, the eagles, osprey, and loons fishing the waters where I go.

I couldnt help myself, i found a deal too good to pass up... so last week i sold my DIS and CSCO shares to buy this

Its a 1995 Pro Craft fish & ski with a 175 hp Mercury that only has 186 hours on it... im officially a boat owner:D

On the project boat above, i spent 2 months worth of days off just restoring the trailer and figured out pretty quick that i bit off more than i could chew... life is short, and i decided that time is better spent on the water than sweating in the driveway
